First Aid Kit Emmylou
So I heard this on NPR earlier tonight, and I’ve become a touch obsessed. It’s one of those perfect, in my mind, road movie montage songs. Like, setting off at dusk, watching faded and cracking yellow stripes roll under the car, wildflowers and scrub fighting past guard rails and wending through trees.
It’s so deliciously Midwestern, I mean, clearly there’s a strong Nashville twang, but I feel more North/West Texas, or Oklahoma, or something. I think the thing that really makes it so fascinating for me is this is a couple of Swedish sisters and yet they have the sound and melodic lingo captured so perfectly. Ugh, I know this probably makes no sense, seeing as I’m from NYC, the Bronx to be specific, but it’s exactly this kind of track that always made me feel the most dissatisfied with not being a musician.
